BABY BABY, SOFTY SOFTY
By Francesca Vizzari
The freedom to play on the ground.
In a world often on its feet, let's try to imagine ourselves sitting, lying down, free to use the floor as a comfy, safe, practical, and above all, enjoyable surface. Let's envision it in a place that perhaps captivates us but often intimidates us more—the children's room.
In a world where fairy tale themes, cartoon characters, and vibrant colors often prevail over harmony and overall delicacy, I want to attempt to revolutionize the norms. Beige, ivory, natural fabrics, and sustainable materials.
But is an entirely neutral room sad for a child? What about blue and pink? But, but, but...
Take a peek at the images below; often, it's not just the color that decorates (I know, I've always preached the opposite) but also the shape, the material. A room of this kind can have a mix of linen gauze, bamboo weaves, wicker, and wood.
Moreover, the Montessori method can be used to encourage independence in the little ones. Place shelves, coat hooks, and toys at their height, and they will be more self-reliant in managing space and their daily activities—from taking off their clothes to grabbing their favorite stuffed animal from the basket.
And then, the walls— you know how much I love decorating them with prints and paintings. In this case, too, a few touches, but carefully chosen and well thought out. Illustrated animals as in the past, no bright colors, the sweetness of certain bon ton settings but full of life.
And then, precisely, the floor. Small rugs, large rugs, square or round, single or layered, where one can lie down freely without fear. In this Sit-In, it's a real guarantee. I'll provide you with some technical information:
SUSTAINABILITY - For about a decade, SIT-IN has undertaken a sustainable path that has led to changes in production processes to save energy, reuse water and waste, and enhance the facility. The latest investment will allow the installation of 25 thousand square meters of photovoltaic panels to save the environment from 700 tons of CO2.
Every product is designed to be recyclable or, in some cases, regenerable, and every packaging used is 100% recycled.
USE OF WOOL - Caring for the environment in New Zealand is a way of life. New Zealand sheep are owned by farming families who, generation after generation, lovingly raise animals in clean and uncontaminated landscapes. The production is environmentally friendly and constantly monitored by the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority.
REGENERATED YARN - All our designed rugs are woven with ECONYL® regenerated yarn, a fiber produced from nylon waste that can be recycled, recreated, and reshaped over and over. The use of this yarn opens endless possibilities for creating new products without using new resources and burdening the environment.
In short, I would say we have nothing to fear, and we can enjoy our horizontal surface in peace. Oh, right, the floor...
Did you know that, if properly cleaned, textile flooring leaves better air quality than other floors? Contrary to popular belief, carpeting is even suitable for those allergic to dust mites; it traps 80% of airborne dust, making environments healthy. To keep it clean, all you need is a vacuum cleaner. But let's get back to furniture, children's rooms, and how to manage the final details best.
Playful furnishings, design, lots of good taste, and comfort. Our favorite COMBO? Here it is.
